Chefs Chefs

The Houston Creole Heritage Festival is in its seventh year and boy did we get lucky!  We will have four notable chefs at this year’s festival.  Here’s a quick rundown:  Chef Gason, Chef Seddy, Chef Scott, and another chef who likes to lay low with the title but nonetheless is a professionally trained chef.  So let’s talk about the shy one first – Michael from Michael’s Cookie Jar.  Educated at the Culinary Institute of America with a 13 year stint at the The Four Seasons Hotel & Resorts, Michael turned his talent for flavor and quality ingredients into the best buttery collection of cookies.  Then rolled (no pun intended) his flair for these buttery delights into a local business in Houston and now has a few store locations.   His plan is to bring chef-crafted cookies to our festival and we can’t wait and if you can’t wait visit his website to taste drive a few of his cookies.  Chef Gason Nelson and Chef Scott seem to have a common link to New Orleans and both have been chosen by the American Culinary Federation as Best Chefs of Louisiana 2020 among others.  Chef Gason, The NOLA Chef, will be in our VIP tent sharing some of his secrets (probably not all) about creole/cajun cooking  with our guests.  Lucky guests will be able to sample his distinct style of flavorful dishes.  Speaking of flavors,  we expect Chef Scott will be bringing his line of creole sauces for his BBQ dishes.  With names like Beer-Bee-Q, Rebirth, and Fiya Water makes ya wonder which sauce will be the favorite. Probably best to try them all right?  Besides his BBQ sauces, the word is out that Chef Scott is also the sole creator of the famous “Ghetto Burger” .  Word is that he’s sold more than 75,000 of these burgers!  Chef Seddy will be working his magic in his own custom mobile kitchen in the food court area.  Not only is Chef Seddy a veteran, chef, husband, and doctoral student but he’s written a book that on Amazon.  The bio for Sedrick Brown aka “Chef Seddy” on Amazon is pretty doggone impressive and insightful.  Check out his bio here here.  We’re sure glad he can find the time to cook it up at our festival.  Photos on his Facebook page  shows a collage of creamy sauce dishes and king size helpings.   We’re not only honored to have these chefs at our festival, we’re completely blown away and can’t wait to see them in action!
